My Salon

I will be working out of a amazing purpose build  salon which will be built in my rear garden. This is going to have a hydro bath which gives a gentle massage, an electric table so the table will lower down therefore no need for them to jump up on a table or be lifted. I will be working on a one to one bases. So if a dog needs that little extra quiet environment, needs to be the only dog or just likes all the attention on them I would be honoured to offer this to you fur baby.

But due to the delay in building this will sadly not be ready until the end of the year! So long to wait I know. Therefore what I would like to do is to keep my skills still going and getting better as I go, I’m going to be setting up from my house I have a spare room which will be just for grooming. I am still new to grooming so do take a little longer but only so I can make sure the dog is settled and not stressed but also to make sure I do the best groom as I possibly can.

I don't have cages in the salon as we like seeing the dogs being as comfortable as can be and able to be free while waiting for you to collect them, this is also the case while being in the summer house behind locked doors or if open behind a safety gate. Their safety is most important while with me. 

While some pooch's like to take a rest on a bed while waiting, some do prefer a crate so I do have one crate which is only there if it is a pooch's request or a customer is late to collect and that dog is not happy with other dogs being around after the next dog is dropped off I would never close the door in any other circumstance.

I do have a nice size back garden for the dogs to have fun in which is fully secure and safe while they have a comfort break and are also never left alone while in my care.

We try and encourage nervous pooches out of their shells with gentle cuddles and lots of calm talking. We do love seeing the difference, if they arrive nervous, leaving us with wagging tails (and a lot of the time a kiss or two!)

All dogs are treated like part of the family...after all, that's exactly what they are and we wouldn't have it any other way!

About Myself,

I’d like to introduce myself, I’m Gemma. I pride myself on the high-standard of care and services that I offer.

I passed my Level 3 OCN course plus first aid course in October 2020. I loved every day while on the course I learnt so much and loved every dog which I had the pleasure of grooming. When I finished I looked for a grooming job and in December, I worked with a salon over the busy period and then lockdown hit, therefore i didn't  work over the lockdown. I then went back to work with them in April and loved it again but felt I wanted to work with the dogs more, by giving them more time one to one while grooming, give them treats, and as many as breaks as they need.

I personally have two dogs myself and they are my world, I started grooming as I wanted to learn how to groom them both. I found a new love by learning to groom them, I did a local college course to learn to groom your own dogs, I found a love while doing this course and i really wanted to move forwards with this new career. My boys are my babies but they themselves have issues with grooming, so I take the time to read there body langue and signs they show me, I give them breaks, treats and just go at their speed. I understand not all dogs like the grooming process and find it difficult to deal with, I will be happy to go at their pace. If they give me a sign they need a break then we will have a break I will try my upmost to make the dog feel loved, in a safe environment, and like they are having a pamper!

I can also offer a one to one service so that they are the only dog in the salon if they need this. 

As stated above I do have two dogs, when you come round if your dog is not very good with other dogs this will be fine I will make sure mine are kept away from the moment you dropped them off to the moment you collect them. If they are happy with other dogs then once you drop them off I will

Introduce them slowly and safely and then have a little play then we will begin the grooming. My boys love to be around me and dogs. When I have groomed friends dogs Monty loves to sleep under the table, and Max is never far away relaxing.

This is me, I would love for the opportunity to take care and give you’re dog, fur baby, family member the pamper they deserve.
